Freeing the Parent’s Mind – The Route to Enhanced Performance in Sport
Nowadays, there are many resources available to help parents navigate the modern world of sport with their child. Parents are encouraged in all sports to adhere to the parents code of conduct, behaving in a way which is supportitve to all children, coaches and fellow parents, in a caring, respectful and friendly manner.
There are many suggestions, via behavioural checklists for parents to guage how you are doing whilst on the sidelines at competitions and everyday in your child’s life. You get to assess yourself against recognised model behaviours, and if you fall short of the requirements, you are expected to make the necessary adjustments, especially if your conduct in public is deemed to be unhelpful!
Until now, the onus is on the parents to work it out as best you can, you must cope with their tears and fears, and at the same time, battle with and balance your reactions. What if, there IS something you could profoundly understand about the human mind, that would allow you to feel at ease, have peace of mind, no matter what’s going on around you?
